This turn-of-the century stately Victorian had a dining room that clashed with the rest of the home. Earthquake retrofitting by the previous owner resulted in exposed metal beams and an industiral style that made the room austere and cold.
HTD's assignment was to restore the room that would be period appropriate.
Custom-milled molding wrapped the steel beams so that they would blend into the ceiling. Slab door built-in cabinetry was repainted, and molding added to trimout the panels. New wooden sliding French doors and window molding further softened the look of the room.
The result: a dining room that was period appropriate, warm and inviting to guests.

| "We never liked the old dining room, it was too modern for our tastes and clashed with our more traditional dining room set. With the redesign, it is now a more inviting and formal dining room." -- Jean F., San Francisco, CA |
