The existing sat over two garage at different levels. The deck had poor drainage causing dryrot and water backflow. The existing rail and light fixtures were industrial and did not match the style of the home. The goal was to repair the existing structure and re-landscape the area for easy maintenance, lines of sight and flow.
In the new deck design, we centered steps to the upper deck and created visual interest with a fountain and plants. Rather than fight the adjacent building's bright yellow color, we embraced it by picking it up as an accent color in the custom Sunbrella cushions.
The decking material is a composite wood system that is more sustainable and offered better longterm maintenance. The rails were left in place and wrapped with new panels.
Custom modular benches were made for ease of use and storage. End result--a visually appealing and integrated new deck.
